(Orlando, Florida) - (The Helpful Hands Foundation) Helping Every Child Program brings awareness to young teenagers about the knowledge of money, finance and how they work. Money, finance and banking are not taught in the home, school nor church. Besides spending money children are unaware of what to do with it.

Our study identified that Children of all income groups have little and no concept of money or finances. In our findings children were not aware of how money, banking and/or finances work. Some may think that children of low-income families are especially affected by this issue, but we come to find out that all children are affected. However, one of the most interesting findings is that people handle their personal finances in the same way as their parents handled it. So in essence, if the parents budget their finances poorly, so probably will their children. These assessments pointed out some key challenges; as well as connections children have towards finances. It allowed us to identify the weak spots in places where we should focus our efforts if we want to strengthen the future of our economy and transforming our children into responsible money managers. Strengthening the American family begins with educating our children in the intricate ways money works.

Other concerns voiced in our survey include absolute ignorance pertaining to savings and the total lack of easy access to banking education to children. Today we are fully aware that most advertising is geared towards our children, but none of it takes the time to teach our children how money works.

The Directors of The Helpful Hands Foundation understand that the present economy posses a lot of challenges and obstacles these days, and teaching our children how finances work will play a vital role in the future development of families and communities across the board. “Sharing valuable concepts of money and finance will contribute in the transformation of our children into successful and responsible adults.”
